Landmark Hospital of Cape Girardeau, MO, was licensed by the State of Missouri on February 23, 2006. The facility was initially Medicare-certified on March 16, 2006. On October 1, 2006, after successfully completing a 6-month Medicare length-of-stay demonstration period, Landmark Hospital of Cape Girardeau was re-certified as a Long-Term Care Hospital.

The twenty-six thousand square foot facility, housing 30 private patient rooms, is located at 3255 Independence Street, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701. Landmark Hospital of Cape Girardeau, LLC, is a joint venture between Landmark Holdings of Missouri, LLC, and the local acute care hospital, Saint Francis Medical Center.

The facility has focused since day one on providing quality patient outcomes in addition to providing the best customer service. Our staff strives to create a compassionate environment where exceptional quality is the primary goal. The patients as well as the families are considered customers and we value the experiences of each person who enters our hospital, as each one brings their own degree of stress from a life altering situation. This means "taking care of everyone - the family members as well as the patients."

Landmark Hospital of Cape Girardeau serves as a regional referral center for critically ill patients in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois. Patients are also brought to Landmark Hospital of Cape Girardeau from St. Louis and Western Kentucky. Many of these patients are ventilator dependant and are sent to our hospital for vent weaning. The Medical Staff of experienced Pulmonologists and Hospitalists are backed up by many other consultant physicians to provide our patients with specialty care that has resulted in very good wean rates and patient outcomes. Many of our patients are discharged home or to rehab hospitals for further care. Many families travel more than 100 miles to our facility to receive care as opposed to traveling to St. Louis where the traffic and parking of the larger city can be very stressful. Landmark Hospital of Cape Girardeau is the only LTACH in this geographic area and has created a hub of short and long-term acute care needs for a variety of patient populations. The typical patient's stay is 25-30 days.

Landmark Hospital of Cape Girardeau was first accredited by The Joint Commission on December 21, 2006. The facility was re-accredited on November 18, 2009 for another three years. The TJC survey holds Landmark Hospital of Cape Girardeau accountable for the same standards of patient care as any other hospital in the country. Landmark Hospital of Cape Girardeau has proven itself to be a quality healthcare provider through surveys and successful patient outcomes. The outstanding reputation of the facility will continue to be recognized in the regional area it serves.

The future of Landmark Hospital of Cape Girardeau looks very positive. As the patient volumes continue to grow, the facility can be expanded by another twelve private patient rooms. The working relationship the facility has with its referring hospitals is strong and the partnerships developed will continue to make a positive difference for critically ill patients in the primary service area of Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois.
