Landmark Hospital of Athens, GA opened its doors on July 15, 2008 and accepted the first patient on that day. Two days later, Medicare surveyed the facility which was successful in receiving Medicare certification. The thirty-two thousand square foot facility, housing 42 private rooms, is located on 775 Sunset Drive, Athens, GA. Landmark Hospital of Athens has focused since day one on providing quality patient outcomes in addition to providing the best customer service. Landmark Hospital of Athens serves as a regional referral center for critically ill patients from North and Central Georgia. Many of these patients are ventilator dependant and are sent to our hospital for vent weaning. The Medical Staff of experienced Pulmonologists and Hospitalists are backed up by many other consultant physicians to provide our patients with specialty care that has resulted in very good wean rates and patient outcomes. Many of our patients are discharged home or to rehab hospitals for further care. Many of our families travel more than 100 miles to our facility to receive care as opposed to traveling to Atlanta where the traffic and parking of the larger city can be very stressful. Landmark Hospital of Athens is the only LTACH in this geographic area and has created a hub of short and long-term acute care needs for a variety of patient populations. The typical patient stay is usually 25-30 days.
